Frequently Asked Questions

For many people, this is their first experience with a cooperative, especially an educational cooperative. We hope to answer your questions here, but our Enrollment Coordinator is available to answer any additional questions.

FAQ:

  Do parents teach the classes?

The teachers plan and teach all classes. Parent Helpers assist the teachers and are active participants in the

 class activities.

  Can dads help?

Absolutely! We encourage both parents to participate. Grandparents and other designated adult caregivers are also welcome to participate.

GPCP is located in a church building. Is the co-op a parochial preschool?

We rent space in the education building of a church, but we are not affiliated with either this church or with any other religious group..

Do Parent Helpers clean the classroom?

Parent Helpers perform disinfectant cleaning of the snack area prior to snack time, and touch up cleaning on a daily basis. GPCP hires a professional cleaning service that thoroughly cleans and sanitizes weekly.

What do I do if I can't help on my scheduled day?

Parents should first contact other parents to trade scheduled days if possible, then contact your class representative for assistance.

I will only be able to serve as a Parent Helper part of the time, can I still join the Co-op?

The class representative for your class will work around your schedule. Parents often volunteer for extra helping days early in the year if they are expecting a new child or other major changes during the year. It is also possible to serve on a certain day of the week. Parents often work together to exchange child care on their scheduled in-class days.

My child is turning five but we are not yet enrolled in kindergarten. Do you have a program for my child?

The 4/5 Year Old class is designed to me the needs of both four and five year olds.

  What is a Mommy/Daddy & Me class?

This unique program is for two year olds and a parent/caregiver. Parent and child engage in activities and crafts planned and facilitated by the teacher, and have the opportunity to interact with other families.

What licensing does the Co-op have?

GPCP is licensed by the State of Ohio. We meet all of the stringent health and safety codes maintained by the State of Ohio. We are also members in good standing of Parent Cooperative Preschools International.
