For over 50 years, the GPCP has offered children in Granville (Map) and the surrounding area an affordable and exceptional preschool experience in which professional teachers work with parents to create a nurturing educational environment that is sensitive to the specific needs of the children. While providing a developmentally appropriate program for children meeting their social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs, the Co-op's principle educational goal is to expose children to learning experiences that will develop their curiosity, love of learning, security, self-concept and sense of belonging to a world that is interesting to them and interested in them.
Although our teachers develop the curriculum and teach all classes, parents have the unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience and insight into child behavior and development by occasionally assisting the teacher in the classroom. This also allows parents the opportunity to watch children interact with the teacher and with each other. Parent participation in the classroom reinforces to children the importance of education and is positively related to a child's success in school. A co-op preschool provides this unique interaction among parents, students and teachers. Additionally, parents oversee the management of our school as GPCP is a nonprofit guided by a Board of Directors made up of parent volunteers. Please visit our Role of Parents page for more details.
Taught by our highly qualified teachers, the Co-op offers classes for the following age groups:
Mommy/Daddy & Me
3 Year Old Class
4/5 Year Old Class
