Mommy/Daddy and Me

Our newest program, which is a unique offering in the area, has become extremely popular.
When this class was added in 2004, the GPCP purchased
hundreds of dollars worth of toddler
appropriate items including a toddler
manipulative library, puzzles, stacking and sorting toys,
water table, blocks,
and linking manipulatives.  These materials are reserved exclusively for
use in the two-year old class. The
emphasis of this program is on providing children with a
first group experience
with the support of a parent or caregiver.  Parents have an opportunity
to make connections with other
families and to benefit from the guidance of a professional
early childhood
educator.

“Miss Laura is a wonderful teacher.  She is extremely
patient and kind to each and every
child….  I have gained insight into new ways to structure activities
and follow the child’s lead.
She is an expert in teaching developmental
concepts in fun and creative ways.  The 2-year old
class provides a
terrific opportunity for Mom (and Dad) to experience quality time with their
child while learning and playing together.”  - Stephanie, parent

Students typically attend with a parent; however,
other family members or special family friends
sometimes attend.  In some cases, a grandparent
or another caregiver accompanies the child on a
regular basis. Parents of multiple children
enrolled in the same section have the option of
having one family member/caregiver per child or
one parent/caregiver total.

Children need to be 22 months of age by
September 30th to be eligible for this class.
Unlike our other classes, children do not need to
be toilet trained to enroll in this program. This
class has a maximum of six students per session.
The Mommy/Daddy and Me class meets for 90
minutes and parents have the option of selecting
one or two sessions per week.

“The 2’s class is a wonderful environment for my daughter to explore her world.  She is learning fun
songs; plays at fun, educational games and crafts; and is developing socially with her peers.  This
class, with a parent’s involvement, is a wonderful introduction to preschool!”– Sarah, parent
