General Guidelines:

> Arrive 5 minutes early to help the teacher prepare the classroom for use.
> The children come first; the helper is to help the teacher with the children as needed.
> Sit and interact with the children as often as possible; being physically closer to the children's level makes
it easier for the children to interact with you.
> Stay positive and use positive language to encourage the children to behave properly.
> During Free Time, the teacher will be engaged with each student one at a time, therefore the helper parent
is to monitor the room and help the children as needed. This is a great time to have fun with the children,
but let the children direct the play.
> Provide a nutritious snack.
> When in doubt about how to handle a child and/or situation, seek help from the teacher.
> Be generous and sincere with praise. Help the children feel confident and reassured - not afraid or
  ashamed.
> Help supervise the children using the restroom and washing their hands.
> Do not discuss the children in front of themselves or others.

Cleaning Guidelines:

> Wash hands upon arriving in the classroom and frequently during the day.
> Upon arriving at the school prepare bleach solution according to posted directions.
> Immediately prior to snack, wash tables first with a soapy water solution and follow with a bleach solution
that must stand on the table for at least two minutes.
