Why Choose the Co-op?
Gaining independence, developing problem solving strategies and expanding social skills are just a few of the milestones your child will reach in his/her preschool years. The Granville Parent Cooperative Preschool's professional teachers will guide your child through an array of fun and developmentally appropriate activities designed to encourage growth in language, cognitive, physical and social-emotional areas. Because you've chosen a Co-op for your child's preschool, you will have the unique opportunity to watch your child engage in these new experiences. Interacting with the teacher and the children in the classroom on a regular basis allows parents to better understand how children are processing social, emotional, and educational information. A co-op education also fosters a unique network of parents and children which can last well beyond the pre-school years. Everyone your child encounters at the Co-op will be more than just a name or a face.
What our Co-op Families Have to Say:
"The benefits of being a member of the GPCP are tremendous. I have learned so much about my child's developmental milestones from observing and interacting with her teacher. Being part of the Granville Parent Cooperative Preschool has introduced us to so many community resources and new friendships."
- Natalie, Parent of Former and Current Students
"The Granville Parent Cooperative Preschool is an unique preschool experience in the Granville Community. I am unaware of any program like it. I was drawn to the school because it is dependent on parent involvement. I feel that parent involvement is key to a child's education and most especially to a very young child's education. It has been so rewarding to see my daughter develop strong bonds to not only her teacher but to her classmates and their parents. It is comforting to know that she has all of these relationships in her life. I also know from experience, because my son is a 'graduate' of the program, that these relationships will last long after her years at the school are over. In the last twenty-two years, six children from our extended family have attended and have had wonderful experiences."
- Donna, Past Parent
"Joining the Co-op has been wonderful for my son and for me. He has matured greatly in a variety of ways through the gentle guidance and encouragement of his teacher and the other parents. As someone who recently became a full time stay-at-home mom, I knew very few other parents who were not working fulltime. I was able to make wonderful new friends; and by joining the parent board, I have found an outlet that allows me to use my professional skills."
- Beth, Parent of Former and Current Students
"We had our children at a much later age than most of the people we know, so we were not around many people with young children, and we also live in a rural area. When I learned of the Co-op, I thought this would be a great way to introduce not only my son, but our family to other families with young children in our area - and that has proven to be even better than I had hoped. It is difficult to describe how much we have all benefitted from our experience thus far; my son has enhanced his skills and also gained confidence with his peers, and my husband and I have learned so much about children and parenting by being in the classroom, watching the teacher-student interaction, and seeing the other students interact with their parents. It is a comfort knowing that next year when my son starts kindergarten, not only will he know some of his fellow students and their parents, but so will his father and I. To say that my son has blossomed by having many other caring adults involved in his life is an understatement! My daughter is in the 2's Program this year, and we're already seeing many positive outcomes from her experience. Additionally, as a former educator, my input is respected, valued, and put to good use."
- Karla, 2's and 4/5's Programs Parent
"The Co-op has done an exceptional job in preparing my child for elementary school. At preschool, she had great teachers who gave her individualized attention and responded to her needs. She's now thriving in kindergarten due in large part to her experiences at the Granville Parent Cooperative Preschool."
- Julie, Past 4's Program Parent
